Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation - GO Grants

General Operating (GO) Grants are quick turnaround, high-impact mini grants designed for organizations that may be new or relatively small. GO Grants offer a once-a-year grant of up to $10,000 for general operating support with a simple application process, which is designed to help reduce barriers for organizations that may be new to seeking grants.

GO Grant Application Process

Organizations that apply must be designated 501(c)(3) nonprofits and have a mission that aligns with the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation’s funding platforms, which are:

  1. Health and medicine
  2. Shelter and food security
  3. Education and skill development
  4. Jobs and economic self-reliance
  5. Cultural and spiritual enrichment

The foundation is particularly interested in locating and fostering growth of grassroots nonprofits embedded in rural communities. Grant requests of up to $10,000 are considered, but average donations run $2,500-$7,500. Funds are unrestricted and may be used for any type of need, though fundraising event sponsorships are discouraged.

Recent GO Grants supported the following:

  • The San Juan Junior Livestock Rodeo in Blanding, Utah
  • The Uintah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt, Utah
  • An inclusive playground in Helper, Utah
  • Waste Less Solutions, an organization that works to prevent and divert food waste in Salt Lake, Box Elder and Weber Counties by collaborating with local partners to rescue and deliver food to those who are experiencing food insecurity.

GO Grants can be nominated by employees

Employees of the Larry H. Miller Company may nominate qualified nonprofits to apply for GO Grants by reaching out to Karol Elkington at kelkington@lhm.com to share their nominations. A brief description of the nonprofit and contact information for both the employee and the charity should be included. Employees or charitable organizations should first review the foundation’s giving guidelines and restrictions, which can be accessed via the “Foundation” tab on www.lhm.com/doing-good.
